Food for the Homebound
Being in need of food without transportation and alone is a desperate situation for many vulnerable area residents. Additionally, many of our vulnerable clients have visual
or auditory impairments and anxieties about venturing out
alone. One can see the critical need for making sure that frail, elderly, and disabled individuals have access to the grocery store. Trained CareGiver volunteers provide transportation for grocery needs and in addition, provide assistance with reading food labels, carrying grocery bags, and putting away groceries. This program enables individuals to maintain their independence and nutritional health.
