It is
because of a network of volunteers that The CareGivers is able to offer in-need
individuals the following programs:
Rides for Healthy Living, Food for the Homebound, Friendly Visits and
Reassurance Phone Calls. By simply helping someone with grocery shopping,
taking them to their doctor’s appointment or a friendly visit, a volunteer is
able to give an individual the benefit of remaining in their own home while
receiving the satisfaction of helping another. This opportunity does not
require volunteers to obligate themselves to a weekly time commitment. Our
Program Coordinator is more than willing to accommodate busy schedules; a
volunteer simply communicates their availability to the Coordinator.
Throughout the year, The CareGivers
strives to organize special projects designed to benefit the frail, elderly and
disabled residing in the Greater Manchester and Nashua
communities. These initiatives are often the result of coordinated efforts
amongst various college, church and business entities. Past special projects
have included distributing fans and bottled water to offset the heat of summer,
college students cleaning elderly apartments and having a friendly visit,
holiday gift giving, creating colorful bulletin boards and delivering freezer
ready meals.
In addition to these opportunities,
there are several others. These could be
either assisting at one of our fundraising events, such as Chocolate Lovers
Fantasy, or helping your church/civic organization arrange a service project.
